Annual award scheme reflects growing popularity of both sail and power multihulls
The Multihull of the Year Awards are a key part of the International Multihull Show (IMS) held each year in La Grande Motte, France. The awards scheme is organised by Multihulls World magazine.
Announcing this year’s winners, Gwen Dorning, CEO of the magazine’s publisher, said the awards not only highlight the boats and builders, but also the growing number of boaters showing an interest in multihulls. The award presentation was attended by some 200 people.
The winners and contenders for the six categories were:
- Sail Cruising, sponsored by Lizmer: Leopard 46 (winner). The contenders were the New 41, Lagoon 43, the Sixty Solar Sail, Bali 5.8, Comar C-Ca38 and Max 44SC
- Sail Performance, sponsored by GN Espace: Dragonfly 36 (winner). The other contenders were the HH52, Cure 55, Balance 580, Rapido 53XS and Swiss Cat 55
- Multipower, sponsored by Sevenstar Yacht Transport: 60 Sunreef Power Eco (winner). The other contenders were the Silent 62, Aquila 50 Yacht, Aventure 38, Yot 41, Dracan 42 and Millikan M9
- Multiyacht, sponsored by Caribbean Multihull Challenge: MODX 70 (winner). The other contenders were the McConaghy MC75, the Two Oceans 870, the WiderCat 92 and the Bluegame BGM75
- IMS Premiere: Excess 13 (winner)
- Capt’n Boat: Nautitech 44 Open (winner)
