Period of uncertainty over

After the UK went to the polls yesterday, overnight it was confirmed that Boris Johnson and the Conservative party had secured a landslide victory, against a hard left agenda proposed by Jeremy Corbyn’s Labour. Johnson secured the Conservatives biggest majority at Westminster since 1987.

British Marine CEO, Lesley Robinson, commented on the result: “We welcome the appointment of a majority Government, ending what was a period of uncertainty for our industry. This will bring the stability we have been calling for since the referendum. As British Marine we will hold Government’s feet to the fire to ensure the future prosperity for our members”

“As part of our National Agenda, we will be ensuring, on behalf of our members, that our voices are heard. My team and I will now hold the new Government to account, representing the issues which matter to our industry. This will include securing the resources required to advance future innovation and technology, tackling environmental challenges, developing a skilled marine workforce and growing boating participation.

“This has already started in earnest and next week we have further meetings scheduled with key governmental departments to plan for the future growth of the industry.”
