New Aquila 70 to launch in early 2020
The steadily expanding brand of Aquila Power Catamarans has extended its dealer network to the Middle East with the establishment of Aquila Middle East in Dubai. This marks the brand entering a new international region, adding to its strong dealer network already established in the US, Europe and Asia Pacific.
“We’re excited to announce a partnership with a new dealer, Aquila Middle East,” says Dave Bigge, vice president of Aquila International. “The global success of Aquila and the exciting expansion of our model line will bring attractive new offerings exclusively to their clients. We are honoured to work with their first-class team.”
Aquila Middle East is backed by the Ilyas & Mustafa Galadari Group, a multi-faceted organisation based in Dubai. The group has a long history of entrepreneurship, including luxury yachts, dating from the 1940s. Aquila Middle East will cover multiple territories including the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, and Bahrain. Their first boat show appearance included an interactive display at the Abu Dhabi International Boat Show held last month.
Early next year Aquila is due to launch its largest model yet, the Aquila 70. Bigge told IBI at the Cannes Yachting Festival last September that the debut of the Aquila 70 will be at one of the spring US shows in 2020. Like the other models in the Aquila range, the Aquila 70 is built at the Sino-Eagle shipyard in Hangzhou, China. The other models are the 32, 36, 44 and 48 power cats and other new models are in development.
Bigge also explained that the first Aquila 70 had been bought by MarineMax, one of the brand’s US dealers. He highlighted the brand’s rapid growth which in a period of some five years has seen over over 100 Aquila 36s and 108 Aquila 44s built and the other models also reaching high production numbers. Aquila craft are designed by a combination of the J&J Design Studio based in Slovenia supported by in-house design resources and other professional consultants.
