US firm honours employees worldwide with safety awards for 2018

Brunswick Corp is honouring its employees worldwide with its top safety awards for 2018, recognising 24 facilities for promoting and practicing safety awareness, and ultimately minimising workplace incidents and injuries.

As of 10 April 2019, the award-winning manufacturing, engineering and distribution plants accounted for more than 25.5 million hours without a lost-time incident, Brunswick told IBI in an e-mail exchange.

14 individual Brunswick division facilities were recognised with Distinguished Safety Awards, seven locations were selected for the Brunswick Award for Sustained Safety Performance and three locations – all in the US – were honoured with the Brunswick Safety Leadership Award. Among the top 10 award winners, only four lost time incidents were reported in all of 2018, according to the Brunswick e-mail.

Those three sites; Boston Whaler in Edgewater, Florida; Land N’ Sea/ Mercury Marine Plant 73 Distribution Center, Atlanta, Georgia; and Mercury Marine Plant 12 Engineering in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, each will direct a $10,000 donation to a local charity of its choice.

The remaining two award categories were shared among Mercury Marine facilities in Juarez, Mexico – Plant 22; Suzhou, People’s Republic of China – Plant 58; Oshkosh, Wis – Plant 33 Engineering; Milton, Ontario, Canada –Plant 20 Regional Distribution Center; Dandenong, Australia –Plant 25; Petit-Rechain, Belgium – Plant 28; Fresno, Cal – Plant 75 Regional Distribution Center; Fond du Lac, Wis – Plant 4; Panama City, Fla – Plant 37 Testing; and Langley, British Columbia, Canada – Plant 89 Regional Distribution Center.

Also cited were Whale Marine in Bangor, Northern Ireland; BLA Marine in Brisbane, Australia; Garelick in St Paul, Minnesota; and Land N’ Sea locations in Kent, Washington; Kansas City, Missouri; Shreveport, Louisiana; and Pompano Beach, Florida.

Brunswick Boat manufacturing operations receiving awards included Lund/Crestliner, New York Mills, Minnesota; Bayliner, Reynosa, Mexico; Lowe, Lebanon, Missouri; and Brunswick Recreational Boats, Dandbridge, Tennessee.
