Brunswick Corp, the world’s largest recreational marine manufacturer, has been selected by Newsweek magazine as one of 400 named ‘America’s Most Responsible Companies’ (AMRC).

In its second year, AMRC finalists were selected from among thousands of US companies of various size across 14 different industries and was based on publicly available key performance indicators derived from CSR Reports, Sustainability Reports, and Corporate Citizenship Reports, as well as an independent survey of 7,500 US residents. Criteria also included committed to diversity, equity and inclusion as well as philanthropy and community involvement.

On its webpage highlighting the awards, Newsweek global editor in chief Nancy Cooper writes: “As this difficult year comes to an end, it’s good to remember that we’re all part of a community. Neighbours, family, friends, first responders: we depend on, appreciate, and hope to be helpful to each other. Many corporations also step up. They care about being good citizens and give back to the communities they operate in. But they share the values that we all prioritise, and that’s worth recognising in any year.”

Brunswick ranked 205 overall on a list that includes the likes of HP in the top spot, Cummins, Polaris, Harley-Davidson, Microsoft, 3M, Apple, and FedEx.

“This award recognises our commitment to corporate social responsibility and the efforts our company is leading to make a positive difference in our communities,” said Brenna Preisser, president - BC Business Acceleration & Chief People and Strategy Officer. “As an industry leader, advancing innovation and inspiration on the water, our customers and employees look to us to set a standard when it comes to corporate citizenship and governance and we look forward to continuing to build on this strategy.”

Newsweek partnered with global data research firm Statista Inc and “worked from a universe of 2000 public companies to determine which firms were tops when it came to doing good.”
