Energy Solutions to market Water World engines as a clean and quiet alternative to diesel

Water World Electronics, a Dutch manufacturer of electric inboard motors, has appointed Energy Solutions as its exclusive UK distributor.

Water World manufactures a range of 48V DC electric motors, designed to replace small diesel engines in boats up to 10m (33ft) and larger canal craft. Energy Solutions will initially sell two models – 4.0kW and 10.0kW – as well as being the service partner for the UK, carrying stock of spare parts.

Hugh Cunningham of Energy Solutions says: “We see a great potential for the Water World electric motors in the UK market. This is an affordable electric option and easy to install – just one unit for motor and controller, no water-cooling system and a direct connection to the shaft, without any gearbox.

“As the demand on the marine industry grows to provide clean, quiet, as well as affordable alternatives to diesel engines, the team at Energy Solutions are confident that the motors will satisfy boatbuilders and end-user requirements,” he adds. “The electric engines are designed to be a direct replacement for a traditional diesel engine both in size and cost.”

Energy Solutions offers a range of 48V chargers and inverter/chargers as well as lead acid and lithium batteries to complement the Water World system. “The efficiency of the drives means that users will be able to get an excellent range from the systems as well as being easy to service and update – a real bonus for fleets,” says Cunningham.

The electric engines are designed to be a direct replacement for a traditional diesel engine both in size and cost. They are said to be ideal for narrowboats on UK canals, as well as small coastal craft and inland waterway fleets looking to reduce both noise and emissions. The engines offer an efficient and reliable electric alternative and are already well-established in the Netherlands, so the motors are a proven and tested option for fleet operators and private owners.
