Oceanco buys two large build halls from Heerema Fabrication
Dutch superyacht builder Oceanco has acquired two large build halls from Heerema Fabrication Group, a builder of offshore constructions that has fallen victim to deep cuts in investments in the oil and gas industry.
Oceanco makes custom superyachts of up to 140m.
It says the acquisition fits well into its long-term strategy. It enables the yard to consolidate bare hull building and related activities. The new halls will also be used for maintenance and refits of Oceanco yachts.
Both halls are 204m long and 50m wide. One stands 35m tall, the other 43m. They are located near Oceanco on the southern edge of the Port of Rotterdam.
Oceanco was founded in 1987 by private south African investors. In 2010, it was bought by Mohammed Al Barwani, a private investor based in Oman with interests in oil, gas, manufacturing and minerals through MB Holding Company LLC.
