Lowe Roughneck Anniversary

The Lowe Roughneck 1860

Lowe Boats has completed its annual dealer meeting where it introduced six new models of pontoon and aluminium fishing boats for the 2020 model year.

Among the new releases is a 25th anniversary edition of the classic Roughneck 1860, a lightweight, wood-free, all-welded jon boat with outboard power options ranging from 20hp-60hp. Features and options include a 19-gallon livewell, rod and gun box, bilge pump and navigation lights.

Teaming up with Favorite USA fishing gear, Lowe is bringing a special edition “tournament-ready” fishing package that the company claims will give fibreglass rivals “a run for their money”.

The dual-console Lowe 198 Favorite boasts 83sq ft of deck space, two Humminbird fishfinder/chartplotter units with built-in Bluetooth; a Minn Kota Ultrex 80-MDI-IP trolling motor; and plenty of storage, including a secure, 10-tube rod locker that can accommodate rods to 8.5ft. The special edition is powered with a 150hp Mercury FourStroke.

The new line-up of fishing boats includes 1675 and 1775 walk through and center console models.

Among the new pontoon entries is the Super Sport 250 WS, available in twin or tri-toons, and offering what Lowe calls “a first of its kind, low-profile, walk-through windshield with a centre hatch.”

To accommodate the windscreen, there are dual raised fibreglass consoles and a new bow layout with dual lounges.

Rounding out the new model line-up is a “smaller cruising pontoon”, the SS210 CL. A swing-back conversion lounge allows boaters to sit facing forward and recline while facing aft. Rated for a 9.9hp-115hp outboard, with the addition of a third pontoon, this 21-footer can accommodate up to 11 people and 150hp.
