Former FIN technical manager forms Connaissances Techniques du Nautisme (CTN)

After working for the Federation des Industries Nautiques (FIN) for 20 years as its technical manager, Gregiore Dolto has established his own consulting company – CTN Conseil (Connaissances Techniques du Nautisme).

CTN aims to provide boatbuilders; design offices; marketing operations; sales representatives; workshop managers; naval architects, etc with the understanding and expertise regarding technical and regulatory subjects. The new consultancy will provide support for the application of scantlings, optimization and the dedicated required Excel files, or help in preparing the technical files for the CE marking, either to submit it to a notified body, or for a self-certification.

The other standards the new consultancy will advise on include stability, windows, cockpits, fire protection, electrical installation, etc. Gregoire has participated in the development of most boating related ISO standards and has been translating into French for AFNOR all ISO standards for more than 20 years. He thus has a good knowledge of the background to the standards the as well as the objectives, details, omissions, etc. and can advise specialists and non-specialists how best to apply them.

Gregoire has been involved for more than 40 years in the development of the French regulations for pleasure craft (small vessels and large yachts) and various versions of the European “pleasure craft” directive. So is in a good position to explain their details and applications etc.
