The Norwegian stabiliser and thruster manufacturer will operate a factory-direct distribution business for its Side-Power products as of 1 September
Norwegian stabiliser and thruster manufacturer Sleipner has announced it will be operating its own factory-direct distribution business located in Viareggio as of the 1st of September, which will be managed by Frederico Verona.
The business will supply the company’s boatbuilding and aftermarket clients in Italy from its 900 sqm warehouse and training facility in addition to providing offices for sales, service and after-sales support.
In the meantime SAIM will continue as Sleipner`s distributor until the end of August and will fulfil all Side-Power orders, offering the normal level of support. From 1 September, orders should be placed directly with Sleipner Italy, and product will be shipped directly from the warehouse or from the factory – whichever is more efficient. The company has had extensive experience of successfully operating its own subsidiaries in seven countries in northern Europe .
Sleipner’s managing director, Ronny Skauen, commented that the move would enable the company to work more closely with Italian yacht builders which was especially helpful given the fact that Side-Power would be launching several products based on very new technologies over the next couple of years which will require much closer engineering cooperation between his company and yacht builders than ever before.
