South African power catamaran producer Admiral Powercats plans to launch an inboard engine inflatable 'Go Kart of the Sea' at the upcoming Cannes Yachting Festival.

The Seakart 335 was tooled and developed in Cape Town for a Mauritius client, according to company spokesman Alan Geeling. “Two years in development, the Seakart is finally ready for international release,” Geeling said. “With an inboard engine and water-jet drive for propulsion and full inflatable tube, it is also one of the safest craft around – a true Go Kart of the sea,” he said.

The Seakart is capable of over 50kt, fitted out by Droomers Yamaha Racing, and marketed by KGTEX Mauritius. Geeling said he hoped the product would soon make inroads into the international market.

Cape Town-based Admiral is a specialist catamaran manufacturer producing mainly for the export market.
