Marine Store’s majority owner acquires 10,000sq m plot of land in Nynäshamn
Sweden’s Marine Store has expanded with a new 10,000sq m facility in Nynäshamn, located just south of Stockholm. The company, which is majority owned by ice hockey legend Peter Forsberg, has been named Yamaha’s Biggest European Dealer-Marine for four years in a row, including two consecutive years as Yamaha Dealer of the Year-Marine for two consecutive years.
“We look at this growth as a part of our positive expansion, but we also have to do something in the southern part of Stockholm,” says Joakim Mellqvist, Marine Store CEO. “Thanks to the fact we have Peter Forsberg as our majority investor and owner, we’re able to do this expansion.”
Forsberg and his company Forspro have bought a 10,000sq m plot for further expansion and a new building in Nynäshamn, south of Stockholm. Sales, service and winter storage can all be handled there at its 3,000sq m premises.
Stockholm is an important region for all kind of boats, especially aluminium powerboats with outboard engines. The market has grown strongly for many years and the trend is steady.
Last year Forsberg bought a part of Marine Store and merged it with his own company, Norberg Nilsson. The plan now is to build a huge marine centre in Nynäshamn. According to Mellqvist, the new building will be ready in 2020.
In addition to his marine business, Forsberg also owns a large real estate company and several sports and shoe brands.
