Yamaha suspends production at outboard engine factories following US closures

Lower demand and supply problems are factors in the latest decision to suspend production for effectively a month

Yamaha Motor announced this morning that it would be suspending production of outboard engines at its principal factories in Fukuroi City in Shizuoka Prefecture and Yatsushiro City in Kumamoto Prefecture. This move is in response to difficult conditions related to the Covid-19 pandemic and problems with the supply of components from overseas suppliers combined with the effects of reduced demand in developed markets such as those in the US and Europe.
