Italian builder named among the winners of the International Design Awards
Amer Yachts has been named among the winners of the International Design Awards (IDA) 2018 with their eco-project, the Amer 94 Twin Superleggera. The motoryacht was singled out by the jury among the nautical and transport products participating in the awards that attract cutting-edge design and innovative product entries from around the world.
The ceremony will take place on April 25 in Los Angeles, Hollywood at the prestigious Pacific Design Center.
Amer Yachts’ 94 hit the spotlight at the end of last year, when it picked up the Environmental Initiative award, sponsored by UCINA, at the 2018 Boat Builder Awards for Business Achievement.
The Amer 94 was designed from the outset to reduce its environmental footprint. The selection of twin Volvo Penta IPS 1350 drives, new lightweight hull construction using more carbonfibre and vacuum infusion, lithium batteries and efficient variable speed generators has all contributed to range enhancement and discernible reduced fuel burn. The yacht also incorporates cork decks instead of teak, recycled fabrics, submarine film instead of antifouling and other special eco-friendly measures.
Started in 2007, The International Design Award (IDA) recognises, celebrates and promotes design visionaries and uncovers emerging talent in Architecture, Interior, Product, Graphic, and Fashion Design.
The prize encourages the pursuit of innovation and research for an eco-design in the respect of the environment.
