New dates will be issued for Southern Hemisphere’s largest marine leisure event
The 2020 Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show (SCIBS2020), the largest marine leisure sector event in the Southern Hemisphere, has been postponed and new dates will be issued soon. It was due to be held at the Sanctuary Cove resort on Austarlia’s Gold Coast from May 21-24.
In a statement SCIBS stated: “Organisers today (March 16) confirmed the 2020 Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show will be postponed until later in the year. The announcement comes in light of the continued escalation of Covid-19 cases and government directives on gatherings of more than 500 people. The health and safety of our teams, exhibitors and event attendees are the number one priority, and our team will endeavour to ensure minimal disruption to all those invested in this year’s show.”
The SCIBS organisers will now work closely with exhibitors and stakeholders to safely deliver another world-class event at a later date.
The move raises a question mark over whether the ASMEX (Australian Marine Export Group) Conference, which is down to be held from May 18-20, will also be postponed.
David Good, AIMEX/Superyacht Australia CEO, told IBI: “I am putting options to the board on Wednesday and will have an outcome on ASMEX. It’s still two months away and we are under the 500 people mass gathering ban, so it’s not as straight forward. I will have a clear direction Wednesday and can advise then.”
