GOST delivers vessel owners a more seamless security experience with advanced facial recognition technology to keep unauthorized persons from gaining access aboard

While camera systems to monitor activity onboard yachts have existed for years, a unique strategic alliance between Global Ocean Security Technologies (GOST) and tech firm Viam leverages artificial intelligence (AI) to enable an advanced facial recognition and object identification capability, bringing an entirely new level of security to yacht owners and crews.

The GOST Specter Ai platform utilizes Viam’s facial recognition technology to instantly identify individuals the moment they board a vessel with a Nvidia GPU. When the system detects authorized persons it allows uninterrupted access while remaining armed. But if the system detects an unauthorized person onboard, the system instantly sends out an alert message and can even activate a siren if desired.

This unique capability allows vessel owners to transform reliable monitoring into proactive, intelligent security by pre-emptively detecting potential threats and accessing real-time situational intelligence from anywhere in the world.

“For over two decades, we have focused on delivering cutting-edge video security solutions, dating back to our first-gen Blackberry video streaming app in 2008,” said GOST president and CEO, Brian Kane. “With the rapid advancements in AI and satellite technology, and with the increased adoption of cameras aboard boats, integrating these innovations ensures that a GOST security system remains one of the most reliable and feature-rich solutions available.”

Compatible with existing GOST XVRs, NVRs, and most third-party onboard IP camera networks, Specter Ai delivers real-time threat detection and advanced video analytics to tie into the camera stream and deliver seamless image analysis, cross-referencing approved people aboard – including integration with a vessel’s systems via NMEA 2000 network for an additional two-factor authentication on approved people aboard based off personal phone range and/or Bluetooth.

“GOST has carved out a very specific security, video and geostationary tracking niche in the marine electronics industry over the last 20 years, and is important to not deviate while also improving upon our strengths” said Kane. “This partnership with Viam allows us to utilize Specter Ai to tie in with many existing video and other peripherals on the boat’s network, be it our own cameras or those of most any other manufacturers, to bring in facial recognition with permitted persons on board for a more seamless security experience of both vessel defense and normal activity aboard.”

Designed to work flawlessly with existing GOST Watch systems, GOST’s Specter Ai platform provides continuous feature updates ensure the system remains cutting-edge and future-proof. End-used customers who bundle GOST Specter Ai security systems with select satellite data services can benefit from discounted service plans, and the system may help reduce insurance premiums.
