Submerged wave energy farms destined for the US coastline

Calwave’s x1 was launched in 2021 and went through extensive testing off the coast of California. The power and data generated was exported via a subsea cable to the nearby pier of the Scripps Institute of Oceanography.

Two areas off the Pacific coastline of Oregon are now test beds for a wave energy project that could see large areas of the seabed ‘sewn’ with surface – and submerged - generators.
