The final award category of eight in the 2016 Boat Builder Awards for Business Achievement, held in association with Raymarine, is arguably the most significant, recognising as it does one individual’s contribution to our industry.
The Lifetime Achievement Award, sponsored by Side-Power (Sleipner Motor AS), honours a person within a boatbuilding company who has made an outstanding contribution in terms of establishing a world-renowned brand that is a leader in its segment.
Primarily this award is designed to spotlight a visionary within our industry, a man or woman who has in their own unique way elevated the business they represent.
Last year’s winner of the Lifetime Achievement Award was Paolo Vitelli, founder and chairman of Italy’s Azimut-Benetti Group. Vitelli, whose name, the judges said, has become synonymous with Italian boatbuilding at its best, was joined by more than 200 industry guests at the National Maritime Museum in Amsterdam to hear which companies had been crowned winners of the awards, organised jointly by IBI and METSTRADE.
To enter or nominate for a Lifetime Achievement Award, please submit examples of the above via the awards’ website, www.boatbuilderawards.com. It is free to enter and to nominate for any of the eight award categories.
The final deadline for nominations is Wednesday, September 28. Judging, by an international panel of industry experts, will take place in October and the winners will be announced at a spectacular gala dinner to be held at the Maritime Museum in Amsterdam on November 16th.
