Yanmar introduced its new series of common-rail engines to the European market at the Cannes Yachting Festival this week.
The new 4LV series of marine diesel engines have outputs from 150mhp-250mhp. They were specifically designed for sailing yachts over 60ft, recreational powerboats such as superyacht tenders, and small commercial craft applications.
Yanmar has introduced three versions at Cannes – the 150mhp, 170mhp and 195mhp units, which will be available as inboard models from autumn 2017 and can be seen on Stand 110. The 230mhp and 250mhp inboard models and sterndrive models will have their introductions in 2018.
According to Yanmar, the new 4LV range is clean, interconnective, quiet, powerful and fuel-efficient. They exceed EPA Tier 3 and EU RCD Tier 2 emission regulations, offering virtually smoke and odour-free operation.
For direct connectivity, the 4LV range has been developed alongside Yanmar’s electronic control and monitoring systems and connects seamlessly with NMEA or J1939 networking. This ensures support of advancing marine technologies and allows future-proofed integration to any multifunction bridge display.
Other features include low vibration and noise levels, excellent fuel efficiency, and a powerful low-end torque performance due to the 2.8lt displacement.
“These engines have been designed for an important segment of the boat propulsion market where globally there is intense competition from many players,” says Floris Lettinga, global sales manager at Yanmar Marine International.
“With our technical skills at the cutting edge of diesel engineering, exemplified by these latest additions to our comprehensive CR engine offering, Yanmar is now the only marine engine manufacturer to offer a full range of CR engines from 40mhp right up to 440mhp, all with low emissions, lively performance, superb fuel efficiency and renowned Yanmar reliability.”
The 4LV is an ideal installation for sailboats, motorboats, or light commercial vessels. The range will be complemented by a choice of Yanmar controls, which include the VC10 electronic control panel and the JC20 joystick system.
