London, UK-based Camper & Nicholsons Marinas has announced an expansion of their Port Louis Marina in Grenada in the West Indies and have agreed terms to develop a new marina in Edinburgh, Scotland.

According to Camper & Nicholsons’ London office, the government of Grenada supports the plan of marina expansion and increasing the number of berths in the Southern Caribbean at Port Louis Marina. The new berths, due to start in 2019, will complement the existing marina design and infrastructure.

Dan Hughes, COO of Camper & Nicholsons Marinas, comments: “The expansion of Port Louis Marina will be a significant step towards realising the full potential of one of our major marina assets which sees strong year-on-year growth. We have demonstrated our long-term commitment to the island of Grenada since the purchase of Port Louis Marina back in 2008 and our continued strong collaboration with the local government.

“We have enjoyed considerable growth in the yachting sector by providing a sought-after destination and the local management and team providing reputable five-star service and a high level of safety and security to all who visit. The new berths will allow greater utilisation of the available water space and provide space for more yachts to visit and berth in Port Louis Marina and enjoy Grenada in the future.”

The expansion project for an additional 70 berths will see a 50% increase in berthing capacity with several million dollars of investment. The new pontoons have been designed to provide flexibility in berthing a full range of yachts arriving in Grenada, which has seen record numbers of arrivals in recent years. This includes superyachts, cruising yachts, local boats, charter yachts and the hosting of international sailing races and regattas, plus enjoyable family maritime events.

Announcing the new Edinburgh Marina project in Scotland, Hughes said: “The new Edinburgh Marina is probably the most important marina development in Europe in the last 25 years. We are delighted to have been chosen to design, manage and operate this new facility which will provide world class services to its customers.

“Camper & Nicholsons Marinas has agreed terms with Edinburgh Marina Granton Harbour Limited to design, commission, manage and operate the new Edinburgh Marina, the centrepiece of the unique £500m waterside quarter development close to Edinburgh city centre and gateway to exploring Scotland’s renowned cruising area.”

Designed to surpass The Yacht Harbour Association’s 5 Gold Anchor rating, Edinburgh Marina will comprise 315 fully serviced berths providing 24/7 access to the sea, a state-of-the-art marina office, and fully serviced boatyard and dry-stack operation. Edinburgh Marina is expected to attract boat owners and enthusiasts from around the world with the ability to accommodate the full-size range of yachts and cruisers.

Kevin Fawcett, developer of Edinburgh Marina Holdings Ltd, adds: “This announcement of Camper & Nicholsons Marinas is great news. I am very pleased to welcome them on board. I believe that their design and operational management skills and their commitment to customer service will help ensure the successful delivery of this exciting development for Edinburgh and Scotland.”
