Group takes 60% of Marina Calata Ovest as part of a restructuring deal

The Marina Calata Ovest in Chiavari, Italy, has joined Marinedi Group’s network of marinas. Marina Calata Ovest is the new harbour basin that was recently built in Chiavari, on the Tigullio coast just a few miles from Cinque Terre in Liguria. It has 150 berths up to 35 metres LOA. This is Marinedi’s 12th marina, and is located close to the heart of some of Italy’s top superyacht producers. “Calata Ovest customers will benefit from the many locations offered by our Network and they will be able to moor as if they were at home in our marinas spread around the Mediterranean: in Central Tyrrhen, in Sardinia, Sicily and Apulia”, said Marinedi Group’s CEO, Renato Marconi.

Marinedi Group’s acquisition of 60% of the marina’s shares is part of a restructuring deal between the marina’s founders and Intesa Group, a major Italian bank, with the Marinedi Group now overseeing state of the art improvements to further protect the harbour basin after storms threatened the operations of nearby marinas in Rapallo and Santa Margherita Ligure.

In 2019 there are plans to start operation of a bunkering station and a shipyard capable of working on vessels over 35 metres LOA.

Renato Marconi concludes:“Calata Ovest Marina completely reflects the functional criteria of the Network because, as part of its top quality services, it is well linked with transport infrastructures, a crucial element especially for international customers. It is in fact within reach by any form of transport from any region of Italy and abroad, just a few minutes walk to the railway station, and 40 minutes by car from the international airport of Genoa.”
