New powerboat registrations in the US were up 2.3% through June on a rolling 12-month, year-over-year basis, according to preliminary data released by the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA).
Sales of towboats, cruisers, freshwater fishing boats, yachts and personal watercraft were all up during the period.
Second-quarter 2018 sales were led by freshwater fishing boats, up 9.1% on a rolling three-month measure, or nearly 30% of sales on an annualised basis. Sales of towboats, cruisers, yachts and personal watercraft were all up on the rolling 12-month basis.
Registrations of boats over 27ft increased 9.9%, led by sales of saltwater fishing boats, which were up 12.8% year-over-year.
