2018 saw a 4.2% increase in new powerboat registration in the US, according to data released by the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA).

The growth was led by towboats, up 10% over 2017, followed by personal watercraft registrations which rose 8%. The two categories combined accounted for almost 30% of new boat unit sales in the States.

Outboards powered 64% of new boat sales, a 3% increase over the previous year.

NMMA’s New Powerboat Registrations Report tracks the previous five years of data by boat type, hull material, propulsion and size.
