Invincible makes high-performance saltwater catamarans and V-hull fishing boats from 33ft-42ft
New York-based private equity firm EagleTree Capital has acquired a majority stake in Invincible Boat Company.
Located in Opa Locka, Florida, Invincible Boats manufactures premium, high-performance saltwater catamarans and V-hull fishing boats from 33ft-42ft.
Invincible founder Alex Lipworth – who started the business in 2006 – will continue to guide product development, serve on the board of directors, and retain a significant stake in the company. John Dorton, former CEO of EagleTree portfolio company MasterCraft Boats, has joined Invincible as CEO.
“I’m a big believer in the premium saltwater fishing category as one of the most stable in the industry, with passionate customers that recognise quality and performance,” Dorton said in a statement.
Dorton is a 25-year industry veteran, having led MasterCraft, Hydra-Sports and HeyDay. He has also served on the boards of the NMMA and the WSIA.
VRA Partners served as financial advisor and Holland and Knight LLP served as legal advisor to Invincible. Jones Day served as legal advisor to EagleTree. Terms were not disclosed.
