Queensland-based The Yacht Brokerage is one of the country’s leading brokerage firms
Australia’s Flagstaff Marine (formerly Visail Sydney) has acquired The Yacht Brokerage (TYBQ) in Queensland for an undisclosed sum. TYBQ was formed over four years ago and has since grown into one of Australia’s leading brokerage houses.
Flagstaff Marine had been interested in entering the Queensland market for some time. Through a timely opportunity, TYBQ founder Peter Nicholson was looking to sell the business to concentrate of new boat sales through his Spirit Marine company.
Now called Flagstaff Marine Queensland/The Yacht Brokerage Queensland (TYBQ), the combined business will work out of TYBQ’s Gold Coast office on Hope Island, and from a new office at the Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron in Manly, east of Brisbane. There are also plans for a second new office on the Sunshine Coast and NSW offices in Sydney and Newport.
Nicholson will work with TYBQ in a consultancy capacity and all TYBQ brokers will continue under the new ownership. This expansion will enhance Flagstaff’s activities in Sydney under its Visail Sydney division. There will be a close working relationship between Spirit Marine and Flagstaff/TYBQ.
The combined brokerage listing of Visail and TYBQ will result in Flagstaff Marine becoming one of Australia’s largest brokerage houses with over 150 used power, sail and multihulls boats. The combined Flagstaff/TYBQ business also markets new models, including boats from Beneteau, Gran Turismo, Antares, Swift Trawlers, Monte Carlo Yachts and Amel Yacht.
