Plastic fuel tank manufacturer acquires 41,000ft² rotational molding facility in southeast US, expanding production capabilities

Ohio, US-based plastics manufacturer Myers Industries announced on Tuesday that the company has acquired all assets of Decatur, Georgia-based rotational molding manufacturing firmStep2 Company LLC for an undisclosed sum.
The acquisition includes a 41,000ft² manufacturing facility, which Myers says will enhance its rotational molding capacity and improve support for both existing and new customers in the southeastern US. The region is home to a significant number of boatbuilders.
“The addition of this Decatur rotational molding location represents another milestone in the execution of our long-term strategy that is unlocking additional growth and expansion opportunities to serve our customers,” said Myers Industries president and CEO, Mike McGaugh. “This marks our third meaningful investment in rotational molding in under two years, and strengthens our position as a valuable partner for our rotational molding customers within our material handling segment. We look forward to integrating this location into our Myers footprint and accelerating our organic growth efforts.”
Myers, parent company to the Scepter and Ameri-Kart fuel tank brands, acquired Indiana-based Elkhart Plastics in 2020, and Trilogy Plastics in 2021.
This investment comes as Myers continues to expand its rotational molding capabilities across the United States to currently rank among the top five producers in the plastics sector. The company’s material handling segment utilises rotational molding to manufacture fuel tanks and a wide range of other products for end-markets including outdoor recreation, construction, vehicle, and industrial applications.
