Acquisition positions US firm as “category leader” across all types of boater reservations

The online boat slip rental category is beginning to consolidate with the acquisition of SlipSure, the largest app for instant and same-day slip bookings, by Annapolis, Maryland-based Snag-A-Slip, positioning the company as “the category leader across all types of boater reservations,” according to a news release from the firm.

Since its inception in 2015, Snag-A-Slip is now partnered with over 700 marinas from Canada to the Caribbean.

“Snag-A-Slip’s mission is to make booking slips seamless and as easy as possible for both for boaters and marinas. The acquisition of SlipSure accelerates our mission by increasing the number of partner marinas that let boaters instantly book,” said Dan Cowens, founder and CEO of Snag-A-Slip.

Earlier this year, Snag-A-Slip made the platform available to private dock owners, similar to Airbnb to offer additional choices for its users.

“We all know why we like Hotel Tonight, Airbnb, Open Table and other apps. They have a way of giving us more choices, while simplifying those choices,” said Sherrie Norton, co-founder of SlipSure. “This is exactly what we set out to do when we created SlipSure. We are delighted to take this vision to new heights with Snag-A-Slip.”

Norton, along with her husband Paul, are life-long cruisers who founded SlipSure in Connecticut. The couple will stay on as members of Snag-A-Slip’s advisory board.
