Vision Marine Technologies names CTO of operations

Vision Marine Technologies has promoted Daniel Rathe to chief technical officer (CTO) as the company shifts from development to commercial deployment of its E-Motion 180E electric powertrain. This change follows the acquisition of Nautical Ventures Group, which has helped Vision Marine strengthen its presence in Florida through a network of nine dedicated dealers.

Rathe has been involved with Vision Marine’s technical operations in Florida for the past two years, overseeing boat integrations and testing of the E-Motion 180E system. As CTO, he will lead efforts to ensure system compliance, streamline installation and testing, and expand high-voltage rigging capabilities at key dealer locations. These steps aim to support wider adoption of Vision Marine’s electric propulsion technology.

At the same time, Xavier Montagne, who led the development and industrialisation of the E-Motion 180E powertrain, has completed his contract and stepped down as CTO and COO. Montagne’s work laid the foundation for Vision Marine’s move into commercial markets.

Having completed rigorous validation with McLaren Engineering, the E-Motion 180E is now entering full-scale production and deployment. Vision Marine says it will focus on sales, service, and growth through Nautical Ventures’ established dealer network in the US.

Separately, Vision Marine has announced that Anthony Cassella Jr has resigned from its Board of Directors, effective July 11, 2025. His decision reflects a desire to avoid potential or perceived conflicts between his responsibilities at MarineMax and his role on Vision Marine’s Board.
