Former Oyster Yachts man takes helm at new brand Arksen
Arksen, the UK-based builder of hybrid explorer vessels, has announced the appointment of Ewan Hind as Chief Operating Officer to the company.
With 25 years of commercial experience under his belt, Hind brings a wealth of knowledge to the project gained from roles including director of Lewis Marine Consulting and Senior Project manager at Oyster Yachts, notably delivering the recently completed first of class Oyster 1225 Superyacht.
Hind commented on his new position with the Arksen project: “It’s exciting to be part of an ambitious company at an early stage, and I’m looking forward to being part of the team as it grows.
“I was first attracted by the Arksen explorer vessels; perfect platforms for adventures and expeditions, that allow access to incredible places but with a very light footprint. However, the more I learnt about the concept and ethos of Arksen as a whole, including the Arksen Foundation and the Explorers’ Club, the more interested I became. I love that these vessels will be used not only for adventure but also for research and education and will not spend their lives tied to a dock!”
Jasper Smith, founder of Arksen, said: “We are thrilled to welcome Ewan to the Arksen project as we continue to grow our team. Ewan brings a great depth of skill and knowledge of the marine industry that will be highly valuable in the delivery of our initiatives such as the Arksen Foundation and the Explorers’ Club, and as a whole, our wider company strategy to help drive a sustainable marine future.”
Hind and his team will attend the Monaco Yacht Show next week and the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show this October.
The Arksen brand was officially launched at boot Düsseldorf in January. Three yacht sizes are planned for its explorer series – the Arksen 70, Arksen 85 and Arken 100.
