David Porthouse joins US boatbuilder as new owners work to relaunch iconic brands

As part of its ongoing rebuilding strategy following its acquisition by new owners last month, Marathon Boat Group (MBG) has announced that former Champion Boats COO David Porthouse has joined the company as its new director of operations.

In his new role, Porthouse will assume responsibility for production, quality, engineering, new product design and plant management.

“Marathon Boat Group is investing in maximising our production capacity, improving our manufacturing facility and implementing industry best-in-class Lean Principles,” said MBG president, KK Tiwari. “We sought a strong groundbreaker to ensure we achieve these goals. David’s leadership success at Champion Boats driving the development of manufacturing and engineering strategies perfectly aligns to deliver on Marathon Boat Group’s commitment to our customers and dealers.”

Porthouse joined Champion Boats in 1993 and, as COO, significantly expanded both domestic and international distribution while leading new engineering, manufacturing and design teams.
