Ullman Sails South Africa salesman dies after short illness
Ullman Sails South Africa this week paid tribute to stalwart salesman Warren Oldroyd who has died after a short illness. Oldryod was a key member of the Ullman team who had extensive experience in the marine industry, having previously built harbour ferries and charter yachts.
“It is with extreme sadness that we announce the passing of beloved Warren Oldroyd, aka Waz, Wozzel, Pip,” the company said in a statement released this week. “Warren, an amazing person and fantastic member of the Ullman team, passed away after a very brief and brave fight with cancer.
“Warren is a big loss to the Ullman South Africa loft as he had an exceptional relationship with all of his customers and everyone he came in contact with,” the company said. “He will be a big loss to us and our thoughts are with his family in this difficult time.”
For the benefit of Oldroyd’s family, the company would create a trust to receive a percentage of all sales from his clients to be paid in perpetuity. “His company shares will be held by this trust and his family will receive dividends from them over time. We have done this because of his incredible loyalty and passion for the brand and because we care about the people who work for this great company,” the statement said.
Oldroyd sailed and cruised extensively prior to joining the Ullman team and was well-known among the South African boatbuilding community.
