Tommi Lassila to head Finnish electric propulsion specialist

Oceanvolt, a Finnish supplier of hybrid electric power and propulsion systems, has named Tommi Lassila as its new CEO. Lassila assumed responsibilities on March 9 and succeeds Markus Mustelin, who has been managing Oceanvolt for the past three years.

Lassila joins Oceanvolt from Finnish turbocharging specialist ABB, where he managed the sales activities in the global network of propulsion product services as sales director.

Markus Mustelin will remain as a minor investor and member of the Oceanvolt board.

“During the past three years we have built the base for growth by securing funding, increasing revenue and profitability and developing our business processes. The next step is really about scaling the business and securing the positioning of Oceanvolt’s products and the company in the market,” Ilkka Raiskinen, Oceanvolt chairman.

Founded in 2004, Oceanvolt is a leading manufacturer of hybrid electric power and propulsion systems for boats. The company’s serial-produced motor systems have been installed on hundreds of boats worldwide, ranging from daysailers to 80ft catamarans.
