5,478 boats were registered in Spain in the first nine months on 2019

Spain’s National Association of Nautical Companies (ANEN) has announced that the country’s recreational boat registrations expanded by 9.1% year-on-year to 5,478 units in the first nine months of 2019.

Sailing boat registrations rose by a robust 35.5% in the first three quarters of this year, the Madrid-based association said in a statement.

From January to September 2019, registrations of craft up to 6m (20ft) in length rose to 3,829 units, up 9.2% compared with the same period a year earlier. From 6m-8m (20ft-26ft), registrations stood at 990 which was the same level recorded for the January-September 2018 period.

The largest increase was reported in the segment comprising boats from 8m-12m (26ft-39ft), with registrations increasing by 46.3% year-on-year to 436 units.

Registrations of boats from 12m-16m (39ft-52ft) expanded by 2.4% in the first three quarters of 2019. The over 16m (52ft) segment was the only one to post a decrease, dropping by 14.8% year-on-year, as shown by data released by the Spanish association.
