With lithium demand predicted to reach over two million tons a year by 2030, with current deposits producing only a fraction of that amount, the hunt is on to find new deposits fast

The growing demand for lithium over the past two years and expected skyrocketing as more lithium ion battery plants come on-line, Montreal, Canada-based Brunswick Exploration (BRW) – not to be confused with the US-based marine company – is leading the search for new deposits in hopes of securing that country’s place as leader in the green economy.

BRW bills itself as ‘Canada’s largest lithium grassroots exploration company,’ and boasts one of the most extensive land packages of staked claims in the country.

“Our approach is to conduct large-scale grassroots exploration aggressively and systematically for hard rock lithium in Canada to find as many deposits as quickly as possible and solidify Canada’s role in supplying the global markets with the resources needed to decarbonise effectively,” the company writes in a whitepaper on its website and in several publications.

With demand escalating and current lithium mines working through their anticipated operational life, the World Economic Forum is predicting demand to reach over two million tons a year by 2030, with current deposits producing only a fraction of that amount, making speed crucial in finding new deposits.

BRW notes that its efficiency and effectiveness in the field comes from the ability to prospect more sites in a shorter time using a variety of exploration technologies.

“These allow us to assess a potential area of interest in minutes and proceed to the next, covering more terrain in a shorter time frame than any other company in Canada.”

In 2023, BRW completed an aggressive set of drilling programs across Canada and found three significant lithium discoveries. This year, the company will focus on taking additional drilling samples to better define their potential. The three claims are all located in the St. James Bay region of Quebec Provence.

“The success of Western economies in their efforts to meet their decarbonisation goals depends critically on our ability to substantially boost the lithium supply, particularly here in North America. Clearly, the current known lithium resources are insufficient to meet the demand for battery-grade lithium, and Brunswick Exploration is committed to changing that,” BRW concluded.
