Now in its 9th year, ASMEX is the flagship marine industry conference in Australia

The Australian International Marine Export Group (AIMEX) has announced the full line-up of Australian and international speakers for this year’s ASMEX conference.

Now in its 9th year, ASMEX 2019 will be held from May 20-21 at the Intercontinental Hotel in Sanctuary Cove immediately prior to the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show (SCIBS).

The theme of this year’s event is “Driving innovation and sustainability” in the marine industry. Topics will include Japan hosting the Tokyo Summer Olympics next year, the 2021 America’s Cup in Auckland, and new infrastructure being opened in time for the expected increase in vessels these events will bring. Panellists and speakers will discuss what has already been installed and the opportunities that will arise for Australia.

International speakers include Philipp von Arnim from Lürssen Yachts in Germany, and Vasco Buonpensiere, co-founder of Italian superyacht builder Cantiere delle Marche. Benetti Asia will also be attending both as sponsors of the Gala Dinner Pre-Dinner Drinks and with Peter Mahoney, general manager of Benetti Asia, as a speaker.

Local speakers will include Andy Ridley, CEO of Citizens of Great Barrier Reef presenting on the true state of the Great Barrier Reef.

“With our quality and diverse speaker list, we are looking forward to bringing these key decision makers from the marine industry together to discuss both opportunities and challenges for the sector,” says AIMEX CEO David Good. “ASMEX would not be possible without the generous support of our event partners, Pantaenius, Queensland government and Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show and our generous sponsors.”

Day 1 of ASMEX will begin with the Sydney City Marine Welcome Function hosted directly after the first half-day’s program, with expert speakers in the industry in attendance. Day 2 will include further presentations and panellists from leading speakers followed by the popular Breakout Sessions in the second half of the afternoon with three separate groups focusing on Marine Exports, Commercial Marine, and Superyachts.

The 2019 Australian Marine Industry Awards Gala Dinner will be held on the evening of Tuesday 21 May. The awards dinner celebrates industry excellence in the Marine Export, Commercial Marine, and Superyacht Industries.
