Seawind Catamarans' new 52ft bluewater cruiser, the Seawind 1600, has been nominated for Multihull of the Year 2018 in the Over 50ft category. Winners will be announced at the International Multihull Boat Show, La Grand Motte, in April next year.

"While we don't know the results of the competition, we do know that our nomination owes much to fantastic design, and the efforts of our production team to keep weight down,” says the company in a statement.

The Seawind 1600 is the newest and biggest Seawind model to be launched to date. Designed by naval architect Reichel Pugh, the new flagship offers bluewater cruising with superyacht comfort, the builder claims. It features simple sailing systems, twin protected helms and a large open cockpit space, making it perfect for offshore sailing.

Seawind is an Australian brand of cruising sail and power catamarans with over 30 years’ experience building multihulls, charter boats and cruising yachts. Production takes place at Seawind’s manufacturing division, Corsair Marine, in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
