Australian motoryacht brand, Maritimo, is in expansionist mode with growth of its business clearly set as its future strategy. The global launch of its X60 model at the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show (SCIBS) represents the first in a new range of at least three models, taking Maritimo into the sports yacht market which is expected to be very popular in the US.

The X60 is described as ‘a game changer’ for Maritimo, as it takes the company into a new and important market segment. Maritimo CEO Garth Corbitt told IBI: “We plan to develop the X60 into a full range. We have an X50 design, which we will give renderings at the Sydney show, and plan to debut the yacht at the Sanctuary Cove show in 2019. We are also looking at a larger model – possibly an X70 – but we have not yet finally decided. We are still researching it.”

The X60 has already achieved notable success in that it has sold six models off-plan to the US, Australia, Europe and New Zealand. The new yacht provides an aft cabin and comes in two or three cabin versions.

Maritmo says: “The X60 represents a totally new era in luxury sport yacht design. Integral in X-Series design is the versatile aft cabin space that enables high levels of customability for owners to cater to the space to their specific requirements.

“Inherent in both the X60 and X50, the space enables an additional cabin accessible from saloon and swim platform, that can be arranged as beach club, additional stateroom, tender garage, euro galley and other custom options.

Maritimo lead designer Tom Barry-Cotter says: “The X60 is one of the most versatile sports motoryachts available in the international market, with multiple arrangement options of the aft cabin and regency suite. The additional aft cabin is completely unique and is resonating with buyers within the sport motoryacht market. Its ability to add extra accommodation space that is similar in size to an additional master cabin in terms of volume is clearly something special.”

Inherent in the X-Series bloodline will be the company’s race-driven performance prowess. With a new, efficient shaft-driven hull and driveline design, the X60 has been tested at speeds of up to 34kt with 925hp Scania power. Excess speed capability is available with a Volvo 1000hp power option.

Hull efficiency within the cruising speed range was a major focus of the state-of-the-art hull and driveline design. The X60’s class-leading range and economy has been recorded at over 30kt when cruising and it has a consumption rate of under 100lt/h per engine at 27kt cruise.

As part of the X60's development, Maritimo also worked closely with Twin Disc in the development of marina manoeuvring EJS joystick systems. The latest Twin Disc system has the most sensitive joystick docking ability in the industry, enabling stress-free docking in tight spaces.

As part of its product development programme, Maritimo has also made upgrades on a number of other models, including the M51 and S51.
