New technology ’Python’ drive boat to make world debut at Sanctuary Cove
The new Newport 460, conceived by the Newport Motor Yachts team of Allan and Neil Francis, is set to make its debut at the Sanctuary Cove international Boat Show, May 23-26, represented by Queensland distributor Swan Super Lines, and will feature an innovative ’silent drive’ that the builders claim will turn the industry on its head.
The first models come with 480hp Cummins diesel engines and Onan generators, coupled to a ZF 2:1 gearbox and running through its new technology “Python” drive system which has been especially designed for this range of boats. The system equates to minimal maintenance and performance of up to 20 knots, along with class-leading fuel economy, the builder claims.
Hallmarks of this new brand, which builds on the heritage and craftmanship of the iconic Island Gypsy marque, include generous social spaces, full walk-around decks for ease of access and safety, helm side entry door, open plan living, smooth ride, fuel efficiency, low maintenance.
With a proven planing hull, narrow entry easing into a soft chine, the hull of the Newport 460 will deliver comfort and stability in all sea states the builder claims.
The 1.2m swim platform ensures safe boarding and launching the tender, while at the helm, dual leather chairs and helm station equipped with the latest in Raymarine navigation equipment, while the lounge and dining section converts to a double bed.
Below decks, the Newport 460 offers owners either a one-cabin or two-cabin layout. The single cabin format comprises a Queen-sized Island bed, separate WC and shower, as well as full-height wardrobes.
The Newport Motor Yachts team of Allan and Neil Francis, are committed to working closely with new owners, visiting the factory at key times during the build and being intimately involved throughout the building process.
Priced at A$899,000 and including A$50,000 options, the first Newport 460 will be unveiled at the 2019 Sanctuary Cove international Boat Show, 23 to 26 May on Queensland’s Gold Coast, represented by Queensland distributor Swan Super Lines.
