Alewijnse Marine Systems, a service and refit centre in La Ciotat in the south of France, has won the prestigious business development award in the annual programme organised by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry France Netherlands (CCI France Pays-Bas).
Chief executive Dick Alewijnse accepted the award at a gala dinner held on Thursday 23 June at the Hotel De L’Europe in the heart of old Amsterdam.
The award presented to Alewijnse was one of two for Business Development given annually by CCI France Pay-Bas; one for Dutch companies doing business in France and other is for French companies doing business in the Netherlands.
It recognises the success of Alewijnse in setting up and then expanding its new subsidiary at La Ciotat. The judging criteria included looking at the growth in turnover in the host country and the relative share of that turnover to the total income of the company. Other factors that were considered included the strategy and competitive position of Alewijnse La Ciotat.
Alewijnse Marine Systems delivers electrical engineering, automation, navigation and ICT solutions and technical services to luxury yachts and commercial vessels around the world.
With the full support of La Ciotat Shipyards SEMIDEP and Provence Promotion (the local French Economic Development Agency), Alewijnse opened its new facility at Chantiers Naval La Ciotat in 2015. Its objective is to provide a fast and personal service to the many superyachts in the western Mediterranean that either have electrical and ICT systems designed and installed by Alewijnse, or else seek the support of highly trained electrical engineers for repairs and refits.
“We put a lot of time and energy into setting up our subsidiary in La Ciotat,” says Dick Alewijnse in his acceptance speech, “and thanks to the efforts of our team on the ground, made up of both French and Dutchmen, we have made great progress. We can now deliver our expertise in all kinds of electrical systems for luxury yachts more quickly and efficiently, right across France’s Mediterranean coast, which helps us serve our customers better than ever before.”
He also went on to thank local agencies Promotion Provence and SEMIDEP for their support and assistance.
The La Ciotat office provides operational coverage from Barcelona in the west to Genova in the east.
CCI France Pays-Bas is a private foundation dedicated to promoting trade and investment between the two countries.
