The organisers of the 2018 ASMEX conference in Sanctuary Cove, Australia, have revealed the full programme for this year’s event.

Martin Redmayne, chairman and editor in chief of the Superyacht Group, will open proceedings on May 22, followed by a welcome speech by MP Steven Ciobo, Minister for Trade Tourism and Investment.

The official ASMEX welcome will be delivered by AIMEX president Richard Chapman, who will offer a review of the issues facing Australian exporters, the superyacht industry and the commercial marine sector alongside Barry Jenkins, chair of Superyacht Australia, and ACMG chair Tommy Ericson.

This will be followed by the official ASMEX opening from MP Cameron Dick, Minister for State Development, Manufacturing, Infrastructure and Planning, who will also announce the launch of the new Queensland Superyacht Strategy 2018-2013.

The ASMEX organisers have revised the format of this year's conference to include more industry panels and separate two-hour breakout sessions for each industry sector – export, superyacht, and commercial defence.

The export session will include discussions on Asian export market strategies, government support for exporters, Free Trade Agreements, manufacturing and go-to market distribution strategies.

The superyacht session will cover the latest report from the AEC Group on a strategy for the superyacht sector, while the commercial session will include presentations by key stakeholders in the defence and commercial marine sectors.

A conference gala dinner, incorporating the announcement of the 2018 Australian Marine Industry Awards, will take place on May 22 from 7-11pm.

The 8th edition of ASMEX, partnered with the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show (SCIBS) and Pantaenius, runs from May 21-23 at the InterContinental Sanctuary Cove Resort.
