Organisers of the Halifax International Boat Show report a strong finish to Atlantic Canada’s largest boat show, noting a 20% attendance bump over the 2017 event.

Held at the recently renovated Halifax Exhibition Centre from February 8-11, the event attracted nearly 12,000 people over its four-day run. A total of 103 exhibitors from throughout the region displayed a range of boats and accessories targeting both freshwater and saltwater markets.

“The recreational boating community showed up for the show this weekend, and the numbers definitely reflect it,” said show manager Scott Sprague. “Along with a busy four days of excitement, we saw lots of happy customers go home with purchases to kick-start their boating season.”

Sales were reported to be trending above last year, fuelled in part by a slightly stronger Canadian dollar and continued low interest rates.

The Halifax International Boat Show has enjoyed a healthy run since returning to the Halifax Exhibition Centre in 2016. The facility, which was badly damaged during a severe 2014 winter storm, received a number of significant improvements and updates in the course of its renovation.

The Halifax International Boat Show returns to the Halifax Exhibition Centre from February 7-10, 2019.
