The Boating Industry Association (BIA) of Australia is inviting boating industry, boaters and other stakeholders to complete a survey that will inform the South Australian Boating Strategic Plan to boost boating participation and guide investment in maritime infrastructure across South Australia.

The Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure (DPTI) is leading the project and has engaged the BIA to assist in developing the plan and engaging with stakeholders. The plan will extend across the state’s four key boating regions – the Central, Western, South East and Murray regions.

Howard Glenn, CEO of the BIA, says the plan will make it easier for councils and other potential project partners to get boating facility funds for eligible projects and reduce red-tape.

“We need to hear from people who have an interest in local waterways, or have new and innovative ideas about boating facilities, events, destinations and safety,” he says. “We invite all stakeholders to contribute to the plans by completing our short survey or contacting the project delivery team.”

The BIA is a non-profit industry organisation that represents more than 90% of the boating industry in New South Wales, South Australia, Queensland and the Northern Territory.
