In spite of the widely recognised difficulties in the Italian marine sector, mainly due to the drastic slowdown of the Italian nautical market, and also following rumours that several shipyards were going to pull out of this year's Genoa International Boat Show, the Directive Council of Ucina Confindustria Nautica (the Italian Marine Industry Association) and Fiera di Genova have announced that the biggest players in the marine sector have all confirmed or even increased their presence at the exhibition.

Azimut-Benetti Group, Ferretti Group, Sanlorenzo SpA, Beneteau Group, Jeanneau and Brunswick Boat Group, among the leaders in the sector, have maintained their investments in the boat show and will occupy, altogether, as many as 18,000sq m, thereby confirming the role of the Genoa boat show as an important appointment for their marketing and sales strategies.

Sessa Marine, on the other hand, has cancelled its participation, giving priority to other appointments in Asia and in North and South America, as well as other European shows such as the Festival International de la Plaisance in Cannes.

This year’s edition of the Genoa International Boat Show, held at the Genoa Fair and Exhibition Center from October 6-14, will have a new layout which will extend over four pavilions, two marinas and large outdoor areas, and will allow the exhibitors to perform sea trials on the boats on display.

Sailing boats will be moved to Marina 1, a new location that will grant this sector a greater visibility, whereas inflatable boats will be on display in the Blue Pavilion and in Pavilion S. Moreover, after a few years’ absence, the diving sector will make its comeback at the boat show.
