Following on from its entry into the US market just over a year ago, Bluewater is now launching a yacht management service from its Ft Lauderdale office. Bluewater already offers brokerage, charter, crewing and training services in the US, as it does from its head office in Antibes and branch in Palma.

The new operation will be managed by Clive McCartney, who was recently appointed as VP Marine Operations for Bluewater Yachting USA. He previously worked with Fraser Yachts in the US on yacht management from 2004-17 and, prior to that, was engaged with three different cruise companies specialising in technical purchasing and services.

He comments: “We deliver a high-quality service to clients and their captains who are looking for integrity and accuracy in the operation of the yacht. My mantra in yacht management is that we are here to provide an infrastructure which enables the captain to succeed in meeting the owner’s expectations.

“Our core strength in crew training at Bluewater,” he adds, “puts us in a unique position of being able to offer a truly complete vessel lifecycle solution, not only in the build, refit, operation, maintenance and compliance of the yacht, but also in providing the crew management solutions that cause so many of the challenges expressed by owners and their representatives. I am excited to be involved at the inception of this Bluewater service in the US and look forward to working with our clients.”

McCartney told IBI: “We are in contact with a number of parties about their management needs and I expect to sign the first contract before FLIBS.”

Brian Luke, president of Bluewater Management & Crew Training USA, said: “Bluewater has offered yacht management services from our Antibes office for many years and we have long wanted to establish a hub for that activity in Ft Lauderdale. The addition of Clive to our team gives us that opportunity.”

Phillip Holden, director of Yacht Management for Bluewater in Antibes, states: “These are exciting times for Bluewater management. We see management in the US as a huge opportunity for growth and a complementary service to our training, crewing, charter and brokerage services already on offer. The appointment of Clive McCartney will give us the level of quality and experience necessary to make this another successful part of the Bluewater family.”

Bluewater set up in the US just over a year ago when it linked with International Crew Training and Crew Unlimited. In terms of its presence at FLIBS, Bluewater Yachting USA will fully promote the range of services it offers, including the new management offering.
