Boating Ontario says it has “parted company” with former CEO Janet Bauer after nearly two years. The association has named Rick Layzell as its new CEO.
Layzell stepped down as a director of the trade association in order to avoid any conflict of interest. “Rick will continue to operate using the current contract that Janet has been under and will remain as such until its expiration,” wrote Jeff Wilcox, association president, in a letter to members. “At which time the board will then determine to offer a new contract to have him continue forward.”
Layzell has had a long presence in the Canadian boating industry, including 18 years with Yamaha Motor Canada, where he was national marine sales manager. He was also sales manager of Gordon Bay Marine for a year before becoming national sales manager of MD Marine Insurance and NautiMax for three years. Layzell started the Boating Ontario CEO position yesterday.
“Rick has the utmost confidence from the board and we are extremely grateful that he has agreed to take on this very important position,” wrote Wilcox.
