Prince Edward, Britain’s Duke of Kent, recently toured the R&D and manufacturing facilities of Lumishore in Swansea, Wales, where he was welcomed by Lumishore CEO Eifrion Evans, chief technology officer Gareth Evans and engineering director Tony Xu.
During the visit, the Duke witnessed Lumishore’s product design and development, including LED/driver design, communications protocol and middleware development through to manufacture and final assembly, calibration and testing of Lumishore’s wide range of underwater LED lighting systems.
Speaking about the visit, Evans said: “It has been an honour and a privilege to receive the Duke of Kent at Lumishore’s Swansea headquarters and to demonstrate how UK innovation, pioneering engineering and manufacturing leads the world in this most demanding of industries. We are proud to show that this region can be a global leader in manufacture and engineering innovation.”
Lumishore designs, develops and manufactures underwater LED lighting systems for installation in marine vessels of all sizes, from the smallest tenders and RIBs to the world’s largest superyachts. The company picked up a Queen’s Award for Enterprise, International Trade, in 2014 for outstanding success in exports.
