Brunswick Boat Group (BBG) has announced that it’s Palm Coast manufacturing facility was participating in a local “Classroom to Careers” initiative this Friday.
The outreach programme will bring students into the Palm Coast Facility, with a plant tour, question and answer session and lunch. The effort is design to provide students with the chance to explore different careers, especially in industries identified as important to economic development in Flagler County.
BBG’s Palm Coast plant manufactures large pleasure boats, mostly for Sea Ray, and employs about 625 full-time staff.
“Our Sea Ray tour guides, who all now hold leadership roles at Palm Coast, have all graduated from surrounding high schools in Flagler, Volusia, and Putnam counties, and started their careers with Sea Ray,” says Kelli Hood, director of human resources at the facility.
“They can offer students insights as well as context about career paths in manufacturing. The Sea Ray tour is important because it exposes students to good paying jobs in manufacturing that may be often overlooked by students," Hood adds.
Officials from the Volusia Manufacturing Association and school counselors will speak to the students about suggestions for various manufacturing career paths.
