Cardiff Marine Group Ltd has purchased the Aberystwyth Marina in Wales. Under the new ownership the facility will benefit from a number of phased investments to upgrade the marina.

Christopher Odling-Smee, director of Cardiff Marine Group, says: “Our purchase of Aberystwyth Marina represents a long-term commitment to upgrading the marina. We strongly believe in the potential of the marina, which we consider to offer great opportunities for growth. We are currently working with key industry partners including Van Oord, Walcon Marine and the Coastal Communities Fund to develop the plan of investment.”

Planned works include dredging of the marina by contractors Van Oord,  new pontoon configurations to improve the layout and increase capacity with equipment from Walcon Marine and upgrading of the infrastructure to improve the presentation and security of the marina.

Cardiff Marine Group, which operates existing centres in Cardiff and Swansea has experienced rapid growth over the past seven years. The company offers an integrated approach to boat owners with an existing portfolio including the 350 berth Cardiff Marina; 110 drystack berths in Cardiff; Cardiff Marine Village marine business park; and boatyards in Cardiff and Swansea.

The addition of Aberystwyth Marina will see the company extend their approach of offering complementary marine services to this new location.
