Italian yacht-builder Cranchi has appointed MG International of Doha, Qatar as its official dealer for the region. The agreement was signed on Tuesday at the start of this year’s 1st Qatar International Boat Show at Lusail Marina.

“When the Qatar International Boat Show was in the early stages of being set up, we realised this would present us with the perfect opportunity for us to partner with a local dealership in Doha,” says Cranchi sales manager Stefano Luraschi.

“Now QIBS 2013 is focussing everybody’s attention on the important luxury yacht market in Qatar and the GCC countries in general, which account for around eight per cent of our international sales,” he adds. “It has opened a whole new communication channel between the boat yards and service industries and the local and regional markets here.”

According to Qatar National Bank, the GDP of countries within the GCC is predicted to reach US$1.5 trillion in 2013. Coupled with a population growth rate expected to be 3.2 per cent in 2013 – which is considerably faster than the world average – there is considerable scope for the future of this region.

“By appearing at the QIBS, Cranchi and MG International are able to talk to current and prospective clients face-to-face,” says Luraschi, “and by having permanent representation here in Doha it will make the whole business of communication a lot easier.”

Cranchi has been making boats since 1870. The company has a fleet of 22 models, with different versions of Flybridge, Hard Top, Trawler, Cruising, Sport and outboard boats.
