IBI is urging firms to get their nominations in early for what promises to be the biggest, most lavish Boat Builder Awards yet. Held in association with Raymarine, and organised jointly by IBI and METSTRADE, the fourth Boat Builder Awards for Business Achievement is set to take place at the Maritime Museum in Amsterdam on Tuesday, November 13.
One of the most hotly contested awards last year was in the Innovative Onboard Design Solution category, sponsored by Fusion, which saw a broad range of entries from integrated electronics to innovative deck and hull features. Sunseeker International’s Manhattan 52 and its Beach Club concept picked up top honours on the night, with judges praising both the obvious and hidden features on the stern of the Manhattan 52 designed to optimise pleasure and safety for children and parents when at anchor.
Phil Popham, CEO of Sunseeker International, said of the award: “To be honoured in this category is testament to the skill and dedication of our 2,500 employees in Dorset where we have meticulously hand-crafted award-winning yachts for nearly half a century. Throughout the decades, Sunseeker has always strived to be more advanced, ambitious, innovative – and consequently more successful. The Innovative Onboard Design Solution award is a reflection of those beliefs and is as relevant today as ever. The award captures our daring spirit perfectly.”
